Who We Are
It Takes a Village-Canada offers emergency child care and wraparound family support services to parents and caregivers facing crisis situations. We believe that no child should be left without care in times of family hardship. Our nursery programs offer a safe, nurturing environment for children, ensuring they are protected and cared for while their families receive the support they need to navigate challenges.

Our Mission
Our mission is to strengthen families and protect children by offering free, short-term crisis care and family support services. We aim to be a trusted resource where parents can find relief and resources in moments of need, reducing family stress and promoting long-term well-being for children and caregivers alike.

What We Do

Emergency Child Care: We provide temporary care for children during family crises, including medical emergencies, homelessness, domestic violence, mental health crises, and other urgent circumstances.​

Family Support Services: We offer resources, referrals, and direct support to parents, helping them access housing, counseling, financial assistance, and parenting programs.

Preventative Care: By intervening early and providing families with the necessary support, we help prevent crises from escalating, reducing the risk of child welfare intervention.

Community Collaboration: We work closely with social service agencies, hospitals, shelters, and community organizations to provide holistic support for families in need.

During times of crisis, parents often have nowhere to turn, and children can be placed in unsafe situations. It Takes a Village Canada ensures that families in distress have a place to receive help without fear of judgment. Our goal is to prevent child neglect and family breakdown by offering compassionate, immediate care and long-term solutions for stability.

It Takes a Village - Family Outreach
FTCC hosts free Saturday camps where children have access to extracurricular activities while Parents, Guardians and Family members gain access to our support teams that provide needed resources like food security, career support (resume-building assistance in job hunting) mental health services ( counselling supports and connections e.g)
It Takes a Village - Children's Crisis Nursery Programs
ITAV's Emergency Crisis Prevention Child Care Programs are 24/7 programs that are dedicated to ensuring children of families experiencing hardship affecting their mental health e.g. unbareable stress, illness, and domestic abuse, have a safe place to stay up to 48 hours while their guardians receive the help they need.

FTCC provides employment counselling, job development, and career matching for eligible job seekers (14 +) who are looking to enhance their skills and work toward short and long-term career goals improving their quality of life
